Third-party Licenses

The open-source and third-party components used in the Memora Keep desktop app, with the license each one is distributed under.

Last updated

The Memora Keep desktop app is built with open-source and third-party components. This page credits them and records the license each one is distributed under, as far as it can be determined from the source in this repository.

How this list is maintained

This list is maintained by hand and may be incomplete or out of date. Before any release it must be regenerated from the components actually present in the shipped build, because that build is the only authoritative source. Where a project offers a choice of licenses, the applicable license depends on how the build links against it. Qt is the clearest example of that, and it is called out below.

Qt and the application framework

Qt is available under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or under a commercial license, and some modules are offered under the GNU General Public License v3.0. Which one applies to this build depends on how the app links against Qt, so the correct license must be confirmed from the shipped build before release.

Device communication

  • adb (Android Debug Bridge): the license file shipped with the adb source tree is the GNU General Public License v3.0, and some bundled Android Open Source Project components carry Apache License 2.0 notices.
  • libimobiledevice: the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1.
  • mokernelroute: the source used here does not ship a license file, so its license must be confirmed before release.

Media decoding

  • libheif: the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 for the library; sample applications and wrappers are under the MIT license.
  • libde265: the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 for the library; sample applications are under the MIT license.

Local archive and database

SQLite is in the public domain. The local archive database and the full-text index used to search WhatsApp messages are both built on SQLite.

Compression, archives and networking

  • zlib: the zlib license.
  • libzip: the BSD 3-Clause license.
  • OpenSSL: the Apache License 2.0 for current releases; older releases used a dual OpenSSL and SSLeay license.
  • curl: the curl license.

Typefaces

Inter is licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. The website hosts the font files itself rather than loading them from a third-party service.

Reporting a license concern

If a component is missing from this list, or a license is described incorrectly, please tell us through the contact page so we can correct it. Open-source compliance matters to us, and this page stays a work in progress until it is generated from the shipped build.
