FAQ

Installation

Which operating systems does Memora Keep run on?

The desktop app runs on Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and on macOS.

Do I need an account or a subscription?

No. There is no account and no sign-in, and the app is free with no subscription.

Does it need an internet connection?

You need internet access to download and install the app. Once installed, phone backups, archive browsing and exports work offline.

Where do I choose the archive folder?

The first-run configuration wizard sets the storage drive and directory. That folder is where the raw backup, the media files and the local SQLite archive live.

FAQ

Backup

What does an iPhone backup include?

A full-device backup to your computer, including WhatsApp, core information such as call history, SMS, contacts, notes, calendar, Safari history and bookmarks, voice memos and voicemail, and media such as photos and videos.

What can I back up from an Android phone?

Android media backup covers photos, videos, audio and documents, selectable by type, with a size estimate before it starts, progress during the backup, and support for canceling. WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business are backed up separately.

Does the backup include WhatsApp?

Yes. On iPhone, WhatsApp data is read from the device backup. On Android, use the separate WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business backup process to import chats and media.

Can I read a backup I already have?

Yes. Select an existing iTunes or Finder backup folder. Memora Keep checks the required files and device details before importing its supported contents.

FAQ

Privacy

Where is my data stored?

In a folder you choose on your own computer: the raw device backup, the media files, and a local SQLite archive. You can open that folder at any time with your normal file manager.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. Backups, chats and media are written to your own disk and are never uploaded to Memora Keep or to any third party.

Do I need to create an account to use it?

No account and no sign-in are required, and there is no subscription. Nothing is tied to a service account that has to keep existing.

Do crash reports contain my data?

Logs and crash reports are saved locally and are not uploaded automatically. Review any report before choosing to send it to support.

FAQ

Data

Which data types are parsed into the archive?

From an iPhone backup: contacts, SMS, call history, photos, videos, notes, calendar, Safari history and bookmarks, voice memos, voicemail and WhatsApp. From Android: system media (photos, videos, audio and documents) and WhatsApp.

Is the original backup modified?

No. The raw backup is kept intact on disk; parsing writes into the local archive and does not rewrite the backup itself.

Can I delete data from the archive?

Yes. Individual items can be deleted from a timeline detail view, and WhatsApp accounts can be deleted from the account list. Deleting from the archive does not touch the original backup folder.

Are documents and archives from an iPhone backup parsed?

Not yet. An iPhone full backup retains those files in the raw backup directory, but generic iOS files are not parsed into the archive, and there is no standalone file archive page for them yet.

FAQ

Export

What can WhatsApp chats be exported to?

WhatsApp conversations export as HTML, CSV or PDF, with support for multiple conversations and a time range.

Can I export SMS, call history, browser history and contacts?

Yes. SMS, call history and browser history export to CSV, and contacts export to VCF.

Can I export media in bulk?

Yes. Media and files can be batch-exported to a directory you choose, and the export can be split into subdirectories by device. Individual media items can also be exported.

Can I export a single photo or video?

Yes. Photos and videos can be browsed, previewed and exported individually, and items can be multi-selected for export.

FAQ

Transfer

Can I move WhatsApp from Android to an iPhone?

Yes. Backed-up WhatsApp data is converted into iPhone backup format, then written to a connected iPhone through a full-device restore, with step-by-step progress and results. When the data for the same account has not changed, the previous conversion output is reused.

Can I transfer other data types to a phone?

Not yet. Transferring media to a phone, and restoring selected data by type, date or conversation, are planned for the next phase rather than available now.

Can I import from iCloud or Google Drive?

Not yet. Cloud import from iCloud and Google Drive is planned for the next phase, and those entries are currently hidden in the app.

FAQ

Uninstall

What happens to my data if I uninstall the app?

Your backups and archive remain on your disk when you uninstall the app. Export important items first if you want to read them in other apps.

Can I move the archive to another computer?

Not yet. Full migration, plus backup and restore of the archive with encrypted storage and decrypted access, is planned for the next phase.
